GAUTHALI
Gauthali tells the story of a girl forced into marriage as a child, denied schooling and stripped of her childhood by rigid tradition. Through years of hardship, betrayal, violence, and the loss of her child, home, and health — she refuses to give up. She turns to education as a form of resistance, rebuilding her life and challenging the customs that tried to erase her. As her husband reckons with the consequences of his actions, Gauthali’s academic success inspires her community to question gender inequality and oppressive traditions. It’s a film about women’s rights, the power of education, and the courage to reclaim one’s future.
